“Clearing up” around Sidmouth Cemetery means “giving growing things a bit of breathing space” – for example, pulling out the bullying three-cornered leek and allowing things like celandine to stretch in the sun. Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna) – Woodland Trust
“Clearing up” around Sidmouth Cemetery also means “sensitively rearranging growing things” – for example, taking foxgloves and primula growing in the cracks between verge-side and beds – and putting them in the beds where they’ll have the chance to spread more comfortably. And “clearing up” around Sidmouth Cemetery also means “not strimming bulbs”! These fine daffs have been allowed to raise their sunny heads on a corner cleared a little to let them and us enjoy their glory a little – with more on their way around the Cemetery:
