CSC Working Party: 17th October 2024

Although there haven’t been many ‘reports’ on what the Cherishing Sidmouth’s Cemeteries working party have been up to, members are down at Sidmouth Cemetery every Thursday morning – normally cutting back some of the jungle.

On Thursday 17th October, they were doing just this – and revealing some very interesting graves beneath the tangle.

As Amanda O’Carroll of CSC said, “I looked to see if I could find anything about the family after Tim and I uncovered 5 Barratt burial plots in the old part of the cemetery.”

They did indeed discover a lot about the family, which was then put together under the ‘memorials’ section of the website: The Barratts, a tailoring family – Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries/

And this page has recently been updated by webmaster Mary Walden-Till.

Here’s one of the photos Amanda took that morning showing what they uncovered:

With thanks to Amanda and Tim O’Carroll for the photography – and all that work!
