Over the last two years since their inception, the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries volunteers have started sorting out the several ornamental beds at Sidmouth Cemetery, with the much-appreciated council horticultural officer Paul Fealey giving both plants and practical guidance as to how and where they should be planted – although it must be said that the volunteers themselves make up a considerable amount of gardening experience. So, yes, a good team to spruce up the rather neglected Cemetery.
Having helped out the working party a couple of weeks ago with preparing the beds beforehand, at yesterday’s session Paul laid out the plants he had brought for the volunteers to dig in.
As he says: “They did a great job. It was raining for them, too. I was able to take a few photos when they were finishing up. See attached.”
As the CSC working party will be moving to a Tuesday morning for their regular sessions, Paul will be by again next Tuesday to lay the plants out for the group in other areas for when they arrive, and will then talk to them about the characteristics of the plants.
Sounds good!
