“It is looking wonderful, you are all doing a grand job!”

Last month, we looked at the lovely Winslade Rose – since discovered to be a Queen Elizabeth variety.

It was given that name by Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries volunteers because this gem had been discovered when working on the entrance from Winslade Road.

Since then, the council’s horticultural officer Paul Fealey has been by and has looked at providing more bedding plants for the bed which goes along the length of the road which takes visitors into the Cemetery.

Today, the working party were busy clearing and cleaning this access road, which had become overgrown and had a definite feeling of neglect.

And as the photos – taken by CSC member Amanda O’Carroll show – the stretch looks much better.

Or, as a member of the public said: “It is looking wonderful, you are all doing a grand job!”

Finally, here’s a screen shot from Google Maps of the entrance from Winslade Road, taken in November 2022
