The Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries volunteers have been busy clearing more graves in the older part of Sidmouth Cemetery – which has necessitated also lots of clearing brambles at the Cemetery.
But just because an area is ‘older’ does not mean to say that there are not relatives who would like to visit the graves of loved ones.
One such family with still-strong connections with Sidmouth Cemetery is the Cole family – who the CSC project has been in touch with over the last couple of years:
A family member recenty said “my wife and I visited Sidmouth cemetery last year and were disappointed with the overgrown state of the COLE memorials. We have photos taken over several years which showed the memorials in well kept grass but photo in 2023 shows the overgrown graves.”
At the session of the CSC working party yesterday (9th October), the volunteers were making efforts to clear these graves of brambles and overgrowth.
The robin certainly seems pleased with the results:
