A full year of CSC working party sessions!

It’s been quite a year for the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries project…

The new endeavour was ‘officially launched’ at the VGS AGM in November 2023. The next step was developing the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries website, which was soon ‘proving to be an invaluable starting point’ for the project.

Then, following a good look at the current Management Plan for Sidmouth Cemetery, a public meeting was convened at Sidmouth Cemetery in early January. Soon after, the CSC steering group met up with District Council officers – and could declare that “Work to improve Sidmouth Cemetery has begun!”

And on the morning of Thursday 25th January, the first Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries working party got to work!

The volunteers have been busy almost every week since then – and their richly described and colourfully illustrated reports appear under the Maintenance tab of the CSC website: just click on the Working parties and the full menu of sessions appear.

They all make fascinating reading, providing a solid record of the group’s work over the last twelve months.

Here’s a photo from April when the CSC working party met up with EDDC’s StreetScene.

With a huge thank you to all the volunteers of the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries working party for all their work over the last twelve months!

Look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
