One year on since the launch of the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries project

It is a year to the day, when the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries project held a Public meeting @ Sidmouth Cemetery – on 13th January 2024

And here’s the poster to prove it!

And the upshot of that public meeting was quite a lot: the Herald pointing to a busy year ahead for the Vision Group for Sidmouth, a good look through the council’s Management Plan for Sidmouth Cemetery, and a meeting with the District Council’s Streetscene at the Cemetery the following week [including its new Operations Manager Julia Woodbridge and Horticultural Officer Paul Fealey] – as reported in the the first newsletter of the Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries project and the press release from the council proclaiming “Work to improve Sidmouth Cemetery has begun!”

Most importantly, however, was how the first Cherishing Sidmouth Cemeteries working party got to work almost immediately – on the morning of Thursday 25th January, less than two weeks since the first public meeting on site. And they haven’t looked back since, with now a full year of CSC working party sessions!

So, congratulations to all involved – and here’s to taking the project into its next year.

We go on with full determination!
